Persistent Post-Concussion Syndrome (PPCS)
When your concussion was supposed to heal a year ago — or five years ago. Recovery does not stop at the one-year mark.
PPCS is real and measurable.
Persistent post-concussion syndrome (PPCS) describes post-concussion symptoms that have lasted beyond the standard one-year recovery window. The literature has historically been pessimistic about PPCS recovery. Newer work — and the patients we treat at this practice — tells a different story.
The mechanism of PPCS is network-level dysregulation that was not addressed in the acute phase. The qEEG shows the signal. Targeted retraining moves the signal.
Our PPCS protocol.
PPCS protocols build from the qEEG baseline. Most patients we see have a combination of vestibular, oculomotor, autonomic, and cognitive components. We address each modality in sequence, re-measuring against your baseline at defined intervals.
See the full Post-Concussion Syndrome treatment page for the full modality stack and recovery timeline.
What outcomes look like.
We publish our outcomes including the non-responder rate. See Patient Results. If our protocol is not moving your data after the first re-evaluation, we say so — the plan ends or the plan changes. We do not pre-sell open-ended care.
