Neuromodulation

Non-invasive, gentle electrical or magnetic input that nudges over- or under-active brain networks back into range — including transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation (tVNS).

WHAT IT IS

What neuromodulation actually is.

Neuromodulation is a broad term for technologies that modulate neuronal activity through external input — electrical, magnetic, or ultrasound stimulation. At Restorative Neuro the focus is on non-invasive neuromodulation: transcutaneous, translingual, and transcranial stimulation and related modalities. The goal is to nudge specific networks identified by the qEEG back into more functional ranges of activity.

SAFETY AND SENSATION

What neuromodulation is NOT.

Neuromodulation at Restorative Neuro is gentle, safe, and should never hurt. It’s not a big electrical shock; It’s a small electrical signal that modulates the smaller electrical behaviors in the brain, often with big benefits.

WHAT A SESSION LOOKS LIKE

What a session looks like.

A controlled amount of stimulation is delivered for a defined period (typically on the scalp, for 20–30 minutes). You can sit, read, or rest, but we will usually pair stimulation with another modality such as neurofeedback or cognitive training, for best results. The sensation is mild — most patients describe it as a soft tingling.
